ReDefine, founded by Chamini Lakmali in 2018 is a brand that offers guilty-free fashion for millennials. With a vision that looks at the future not just in terms of sustainability but also in terms of design and innovations, ReDefine creates unique laser cut recycled denim jackets, organic slogan t-shirts and eco-friendly accessories.
The denim jackets are bought from charity shops and recycled centres. They are the dyed using organic dye and laser cut to create intricate designs. The brand also offers bespoke and customised one-off designs to its customers and collaborates with other designers for commission based projects. One of the current projects involved collaborating with another eco-fashion designer to create a collection for Liverpool Fabric District Art Festival 2020.
Chamini is determined to deliver style to shoppers worldwide without hurting the planet and reduce landfill created by garment disposal across the globe. Originally from Sri Lanka, she is currently based in Liverpool and aside from running her own fashion brand Chamini also offers styling and content marketing services to other fashion brands.
The organic slogan t-shirts sold on ReDefine are created using GOTS certified organic cotton and low-impact printing. The slogans are created collaborating with UK-based illustrators. The eco-friendly accessories are made from fabric waste from Batik industry in Sri Lanka. They are produced in small batches to minimise waste. Chamini is currently working on a platform to allow ReDefine customers to customise and re-design their own old jackets online to offer more exclusivity to the customers.
ReDefine designs are available online, at Make Thread and pop-up stores across North West region.
