Anything little is cute. Little puppies, little miniature sandwiches that you get at tea parties and most definitely little bags!
The world as we know it (or at least the fashion world) is divided into two kinds of contrasting people; the ones who carry a Mary Poppins like bag around with them which holds their entire life (their bed, a 3 course meal and their entire wardrobe) and is pretty much the size of a small child. Then there are the others, the ones who run around the city so carefree with a bag the size of a pinky finger that can just about fit in your card holder, your phone and possibly a lipstick. I’m surprisingly the latter.
The desire to eradicate the ‘Mary Poppins movement’ with tiny handbags appears to be growing in intensity as pretty much every covetable brand has introduced mini bags that have me wishing money really did grow on trees! Brands from the likes of Fendi, Balenciaga, Gucci and YSL are issuing these lustful nano bags that completely disregard the previous idea that it was necessary to carry all your possessions in your handbag as if it is a motor-home.
I would say I almost gravitate towards little nano sized bags, is it because I’m so small? Or is it because it prevents me from having the need to fill the entire bag, regardless of whether I’m simply taking a trip to Waitrose or going shopping? Or is it because not only is the miniature size adorable, but you’ll also never experience that aching shoulder pain from a heavy bag cutting into your skin because nano bags weigh less than paper – whilst full!
Little bags are like those cute teacup pets that win the heart of all, you see them in the store all fancy on the marble shelving and its like gravity pulls me towards them as my hands create that motion that basically means “gimme gimme gimme!”.
The nano bags are definitely favoured amongst celebrities who know how to rock a good bag; everyone from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Kendall Jenner are seen strutting the streets of New York and London with these mini bags from brands like Gucci, Celine, Chanel and Fendi perfectly placed across their bodies.
Some of my absolute favourite mini bags include the Gucci ‘Sylivie’ bags, the Chanel ‘Wallet on a chains’, the YSL mini ‘college bags’, and the Fendi mini ‘Peekaboo bags’ (that North West and Penelope Disick rock far too well!).
