Lifestyle: 10 Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Being a girl is tough sometimes, there’s just so much for us to do, but with such little time! I mean, how are we supposed to get our beauty rest but also wake up early enough to do a full beauty routine? If you know how, do tell me!

Beauty hacks are my best friend as a girl who loves to save time (and sleep in), so I thought it’d be fun to share my favourite ones that I really do think every girl should know!

Winged Liner
An oldie but still a goodie. To perfect the perfect winged liner, apply tape on the back of your hand to get rid of the stickiness, and then apply near your eye. Draw the line on your eyelid slowly from corner to corner and steadily take the liner along the tape. Then voila, eyeliner on fleek!

Tea Tree Oil for Spots
Spots are pesky little (or sometimes big) buggers, and they’re often hard to get rid of. However, one of the best ways to dry up spots before they can completely take over your face and threaten becoming a whole new planet, is to take a cotton bud and use either tea tree oil or cream and dab it on the spot! Works (almost) every time!

Baby Oil for Brushes
Don’t spend money on expensive brush cleaners, it’s definitely not worth it, I’m sure you’d much rather spend the money on a new lipstick (I know I would!). Instead, buy a gentle baby shampoo such as ‘Johnson’s baby shampoo’ which works just as good!

Drying Your Hair with a T-Shirt
Terry-cloth towels pull too much moisture out of your hair, which makes it frizzy, but the smooth cotton of a shirt will remove the excess water and leave your hair frizz-free (or at least less frizzy).

Contour Your Lips
Save spending hundreds of pounds on a permanent lip enhancement, and just contour your lips for that perfect pout! Use two different shades (in the same colour spectrum) and use the darker shade on the corners of your lips and the lighter on the inside to create an ombre effect that enhances your lips and gives them that Kylie Jenner effect!

White Eyeliner
Tired after a late night out? Use white eyeliner on your waterline to open up your eyes and make yourself seem awake and ready to conquer the day.

Ice Water to Dry Nail Polish Faster
Need to go out quickly after painting your nails? Soaking your nails in ice water after painting them will immediately set them and help them to dry faster and skip the smudging stage.

Heat your Eyelash Curler
Blowing hot air on your eyelash curler will help your lashes curl easier and stay curled longer. It works the same way as when your hair holds a curl with a curling iron; heat changes the pattern of your hair. To do it, heat the lash curler with your hair dryer until it heats up, wait until it cools slightly but is still warm (you want to be sure not to burn your eyelid), then clamp down on your lashes to curl them!

Mattify Lipstick with Powder
If you love your lipstick colour but want it to be matte rather than a gloss or want to make your lipstick last all day, get a tissue and split it so it is very thin and hold it over your lips and then dust the tissue which is covering your lips with translucent powder! Easy.

Turn a Pencil Eyeliner into a Gel Formula
I always struggle to use pencil eyeliners, but for some unknown reason I have so many of them! So to make them easier to use, hold your black, green or burgundy kohl eye pencil (which typically creates a thin, harder-to-apply line), under the hot flame for one second, let it cool for 15 seconds, and then watch the consistency change right before your eyes. Glide on your newly made gel liner for an instantly smudgier formula.

Baby Powder for Thicker-looking Lashes
If your eyelashes are looking a little sparse, and your normal mascara just isn’t hitting the mark, using a cotton bud take some baby powder and apply it on your lashes after your first coat of mascara and then after that again apply another coat of mascara for lust worthy lashes!
