Lifestyle: 4 Things You Don’t Need To Start Up A Blog

Blogging can be a great way for aspiring writers to promote their writing skills. Blogging not only allows you to showcase your writing talents, but it also shows your future employees just how passionate you are about your craft.

However many writers tend to shy away from blogging because they believe they don’t have the right ingredients to start up a successful blog. All you need is a laptop!

Here are just some of the things that aspiring writers believe they need in order to start up a blog:

Expensive cameras
For some reason everyone feels the need to cash out on an expensive Nikon or Canon Camera when venturing into the world of blogging. I am here to tell you that it really isn’t necessary. You can take some perfectly fine images using your IPhone.

Aesthetically pleasing Images
I am so tired of everyone forcing this aesthetic look on their blogs. If you are a writer, Images are NOT the main focus of your blog. Focus on your writing and less on your images. Your blog is the one platform that allows you to showcase your writing talents, so don’t waste too much of your time on taking pictures.

Large social media following
I would be lying if I said that having a large following on social media won’t help push your blog in the right direction, but this is not compulsory! You don’t need to have thousands of followers to start up a successful blog. In fact many popular bloggers started with little followers.

Expensive blog layouts
When starting up your blog you really don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds on a blog layout. Lots of websites that offer affordable downloadable blog layouts that are easy to use. You can even use some of the free blog layouts that WordPress and Blogspot have, they all look very professional and are easy to edit.
