Between Galentine’s Day brunches and romantic Valentine’s Day dates February is proving to be a busy month for our social lives. With the British Heart Foundation (BHF) you can now help make this month of love – dubbed Heart Month – a month to give back.
To celebrate Heart Month the BHF is launching a calendar of fitness. The calendar details over 80 challenges taking place nationwide and across the world in the hopes that people will be inspired to get active and to shrug off the winter blues for a good cause; all in support of the research that helps beat heart disease.
Coronary heart disease is the single biggest killer in the UK, with around 160,000 lives lost to the disease every year (that’s one person every three minutes) and the BHF has spent 50 years fighting for those suffering.
The BHF hope that by getting people involved physically they can raise money for life-saving research and spread their message, especially during the month dedicated to all things red, pink and heart shaped. Activities vary and there is something for everyone, whether you detest the gym (like walks and treks or bike rides) or an extreme sports lover (have a go at a triathlon, skydiving or open water swimming).
